I HAVE REALLY NEGLECTED MY BLOG. I MEAN, I WAS GOING TO POST THIS REVIEW IN SEPTEMBER, AND NOW WE'RE A WEEK INTO OCTOBER AND I HAVE ONLY JUST FINISHED IT. I'M REALLY TRYING TO KEEP IT UP TO DATE THOUGH, SO FROM NOW ON I WILL BLOG A LOT MORE. PROMISE. Hello again guys!!! I'm sorry I haven't blogged in ages, I really neglected my blog and thinking back, it really wasn't a great thing to do and I'm very very sorry. So, as a new start to the school year, I've decided to blog twice a week, instead of once. That might seem a little too ambitious, but at least that way I'll aim even higher than this past year, so even if I fall short of my expectations, then at least there'll be one book each week for sure, and with any luck, two a week. I might not have enough time but promise I´ll try my best. So, with that being said, here´s my book review:
A Place called Perfect... well, what can I say?? It was, in its own way, perfect. Or almost. My aunt recommended it to me telling me it was supposed to be really unexpected and it really was great, lovely and relaxing and really fun and I'm super thankful I gave it a go, because I really enjoyed it. But unexpected? NO WAY. The plot was about as unexpected as a "surprise" party for you that your parents told you all about. It was not unexpected at all. Well, for me at least. I guess I can understand how most mind find it unexpected, and it's true the book is ranged 9-12, so I really am on the age limit and that might be why it was so obvious, but for me the answers were clear a mile off. I mean, there was this really obvious thing that we got introduced to at the very beginning, and it took the characters until halfway through the book to figure it out. And by then, there was some other totally obvious thing and it took them until the very end to figure THAT one out. So, in my opinion, unexpected? Nope. More like incredibly obvious. But I think the rest of the book (and I'd say it's a 9+ too) was really great, and it just relaxes you so much, for immediately after finishing it I read an Agatha Christie book- and that review will hopefully be coming out soon!- and it left my head in a complete muddle, which is probably why I liked it so much, but it also left me so confused I loved reading this nice, simple book after it... It is a great book, and I feel like I'm being too harsh in this review, which isn't making me feel like I'm being fair. It was interesting, and there were some things I didn't guess, I'll give it that. But, next time I want an unexpected ending? I know what I'll be reading then ;) ... Violet is ever so angry at her father for obtaining a job in a town named Perfect. She's left everything behind: her friends, her house... But Violet's worries soon take an alarming path. Perfect gives her the creeps; her mum is becoming extremely strange, her dad has disappeared and she keeps on hearing weird disembodied voices... But it's not until she meets Boy that she slowly discovers the truth... and a terrible plan hidden under the town's mask of pleasure and "perfectness"...
