I am gradually falling in love with Point Horror, but for some reason I am reading all the best books before I read the good but not as good ones. I thought this book was great (except for all the kissing moments; they were kind of awkward), but the ending just had me confused. I won't give any spoilers, but if you understand the ending once you read it, please comment and explain it. Who was playing those pranks on Kate? And who did Kate love in the end? Those are the two questions I can remember, but I bet I have many more questions which I have forgotten for now. Anyway, if you enjoy Point Horror, you'll be glad to know I will almost certainly be reviewing more of those books.
Kate is a budding writer whom her teacher takes to a writing conference. She loves horror, but when terrifying stuff starts happening to her, Kate isn't sure she is enjoying herself... Especially when she finds out someone doesn't like her idea of being teacher's pet... Someone who is not afraid to kill...

This book was pretty good too, but it wasn't as great as the first. I found the ending rather violent and disturbing (well, what did you expect! An "And they lived happily ever after"? This is a horror story, girl! "OH, SHUT UP!!!!") Sorry about that, my inner self gets really annoying sometimes. Anyway, I thought this book would be better than it actually was. I was kind of disappointed that the first book's plot was so good and the second book's plot was not as awesome. Plus, so far all the Point Horror books I've read did not include any M _ _ _ _ Rs (I wrote it like this for the people who don't like spoilers). I would probably give it a 3 1/2 rating, personally, but maybe someone else will read it and think it better than the 1st book.
Brenda is not very confortable with Halloween. After all, it was only 12 months ago when a murder was planned at her Halloween party... And very close to being accomplished. So this year, when her friends persuade her to play a Halloween revenge prank designed to terrify the victim to death, Brenda realises that Halloween will always terrify her... I was desperate to know the end throughout the whole book. I was hooked. It was just so twisted, and one second you though the culprit was, say, Terry, the next Jordan, and after that Mark. I was so surprised when I found out who it really was!!! However, I think the ending had much to be desired. I found it sort of lacking, you could say. It told you the end, but I kept on wondreing a lot of things after I finished. My mind wanted to know a few more details, like what happened to the culprit, what happened to the victims, what happened to the camp in general. But the plot was great. If you like mysteries and horror, then it's perfect for you!
Almost everyone at Camp Silverlake has a fear of something: creepy crawlies, snakes, swimming in the lake... But underneath all the jokes and happy faces, some of the councillors hide a much deeper fear... A fear that a secret they kept for seven years will be discovered- a secret they kept from when they were at the camp as kids. The summer one of the kids didn't make it home alive... Now someone wants vengeance. And they will not stop at any price... I don't usually read horror stories because I'm not a big fan of scary stuff, but since it was Halloween on Monday and it was the only book my friend had with her, I read this book. I'm glad I did. It turns out that this horror story was okay, even though I'll admit it was kind of scary, but in general it was rather like a mystery instead of a horror story. There are so many twists and turns, it's really hard to guess the ending! It was really exciting and has quite encouraged me to try other horror stories, so you might be reading other horror stories posts in future, although it might take some time...
Brenda hates her cousin Halley, who has come to her house while her parents are sorting out their divorce. Halley has ruined Brenda's life, and stolen her room, her parents' affection and even her boyfriend!! When Brenda and her friends are assigned some homework telling them to write down a halloween murder story, Brenda gets so mad at Halley that she plans to murder Halley: for real. Will Brenda really get rid of Halley by murdering her? Trust me, the end is not at all what you expected! |
